After 2 year of renting a property through Fine & Country and paying rent on time, we have moved out with adequate notice. It's now 17 days since we moved out and are struggling to get our deposit back. Apparently the owner is coming up with all sorts of weird and wonderful things that are broken. An inspection was conducted and it was agreed that the damages noted were there before we moved in and some are expected wear and tear with the exception of a dirty carpet. They are now claiming that the carpet is damaged and needs to be removed. The property has been sold and these people are trying to make a quick buck from us. This is A!!! and in breach of our contract, and just plain disgusting. I am giving these people 24 hours to pay me my money otherwise I will be taking legal action and they will be paying more than they owe me. Fortunately for me I have access to such and wonder how many unsuspecting people fall victim to such and have no defence mechanism.
