Recently moved out of 3 bedroom duplex I was renting for 3 years as it had been sold. I tried to get an inspection done prior to moving out to point out things I needed to "fix" but was sent a list of "moving out guidelines" and told they only inspect once all furniture is out. You have to use their carpet cleaners (I smell kick back?)and will be liable for painting the place, ect. I opted to paint myself having heard various complaints from other tenants in the complex re Dickson taking liberties. I painted/cleaned, followed all the requirements as set out in the guidelines an still they wanted to deduct R5700 from my deposit (50%). After many emails and negotiations this was reduced to R1300. I picked up overcharging of water bill and contract fees too-after more emails and "oops we're sorry", was refunded almost 90% of my deposit, but it took a lot of effort and arguing. Guess who the maintenance company belongs to, Dickson family. Other tenants moving out have all had similar problems. Money making racket! And great to be an property owner when the annual maintenance is done from the tenants deposits. Monopoly? Most rentals in B'fell are only available thru Dickson...
