Remax - Refusal to Refund Rental Deposit

Remax Durbanville is refusing to refund our deposit based on false allegations of neglience on our part. The property that we occupied for a year and a half was not maintained by the owner. A formal complaint was lodged with the housing tribunal in the Western Cape specifically detailing the lack of maintanance to the property in regard to pool equipment not functioning as well as broken fire escape door into the garage. The owner instructed Remax to get the pool repaired at their own cost. Remax failed to do so and continued to harass us during the last months of our occupation. Upon us vacating the property on 30 Nov 2012, our deposit has now been withheld and costs being deducted for pool repairs and replacement of lawn etc. The remax agent unlawfully made changes to the inspection report after it had been signed and the premises inspected. She insisted that we pay R1000 for cleaning up the property which we had already been cleaned up. Remax is now demanding that we refute this through legal means or else we will not be receiving our refund of R14250 (excluding interest). This is unlawful and. We are now proceeding with legal action against Remax Durbanvill
