Department of Home Affairs
Deadline that can not be commited too

I applied for a name change 10 months ago in the George office only to find out that my documents was sent a month later to Pretoria. After numerous calls the name change has still not taken place and its been 10 months already. All I hear is that it's be escalated but pending. Why tell people on TV that processes is put in place to ensure that time frame windows are met (Change of name is 9 months max) and make it sound all Rosy whereby the service is pathetic?

The sad thing is that with government institution like DHA we do not have a choice in changing service providers and it seems us as citizens of SA are be told indirectly "Take it or leave it because you don't have a choice"

I am sure you get an ID much faster in a war ridden country than in SA. Funny enough, When its election time you apply for an ID now ad get it almost the next day (Little of exaggeration added)

When this country was under the old apartheid ruler we got better service so it most probably means that in SA Democracy and equality means the middle finger to SA citizens.

How I Miss PW Botha and FW De Klerk.
