I just wanna share with you an experience that has shown me that there are actually people that still care at Home Affairs. We were struggling to get hold of an Unabridged Birth Certificate from them and it was an urgent situation as my flights had been booked and time was short to get my immigration visa to the USA. After calling the call centre every day for 3 weeks, sending emails to as many email addresses that I could get hold of to let them know how urgent my situation was, they just seemed to give me the same old story every time... but then my gran called and a lady called Antoinette answered, my gran was actually asking about her ID book but also mentioned my B/C. My gran then gave me the phone and Antoinette asked for my ID number etc. and then after a while we hung up. The very next morning I got an SMS from Home Affairs saying it was ready and Antoinette even called my cell phone to make sure I got it and she even spoke to the supervisor at the Durban branch to help us get it. This lady has saved me a fortune and a lot of anguish as I can now fly with my Fiancee to the USA as planned. We need more people like Antoinette at the top instead of people who don't want to help.
