Compensation Commissioner
Letter of Goodstanding

Every 2nd month we have to go to Pretoria to obtain a new letter of good standing. We have sent in manual assessments every year and not received an invoice for the last 2 years for payment. On going to obtain a new letter of goodstanding yesterday, we were informed that now we have to re-submit assessments via the internet - why were we not informed beforehand? This then proceeded to take 5 hours of our time - one person at the Dept of Labour offices and one person in the office - registering (ambigiuous guessing of correct code for company ref.), entering assessments, waiting for reconcilement, paying eventually and then waiting another hour for the proof of faxed payment to be received. Then another 30 minutes for the process to eventually get another letter of goodstanding. Guess what it was valid for only another 2 months again! Why oh why, if they are going the internet route can this not all be done via the internet? i.e. print off our own letter of goodstanding? We are not allowed to continue work without one. Don't even think of faxing or calling any of their numbers they are always busy. Pls tell everyone go via internet before wasting time going there.
