I purchased my first house last year in July 2012, and since then, my rates and taxes account has been incorrect. The city of Joburg has been charging me BUSINESS SECTIONAL TITLE rates instead of RESIDENTIAL SECTIONAL TITLE rates. It has been an absolute NIGHTMARE for me trying to change this from business to residential. The people working at the call centre are totally inept and are not able to help me at all or provide me with the necessary information on how to get this fixed. Email after email has been sent to the customer enquiries email address at the City of Joburg, but nobody has EVER contacted me back.
I've had to pursue the root of paying a third party in order to rectify this, and over a year later, IT HAS STILL NOT BEEN RECTIFIED!!
The City of Joburg is clearly NOT a world class city. The customer service (actually no service at all) is shocking and I have a very dim view of the City of Joburg's attitude towards helping their customers.
