It had been advertised on posters at stations and in some newspapers that Rea Vaya will change from the ticket system to a master card system for trip payments. The hype was great but delivery has been disappointing! After signing up online, I was informed that I would have to sign up again at the station when I went to pick up my card, as the 'internet sign up process was not thought through' according to the rep that activated my card at Thokoza Park. I was also informed that the tickets that I still had would no longer be valid, but was assured, that I would be credited the cash value of the tickets, at any station, at the cashiers box but was not true. I was informed at JHB Carlton West station that certain stations would be able to help and to use cash for the time being. I was shocked to see that I was only credited with R38.50 after paying R40 as R1.50 was a loading fee, which I had not been made aware of. When asking the cashier about it, he was not helpful and told me that it was the new system. Another commuter made me aware that this fee rises with the amount loaded. This was not communicated in the adverts as part of the change and inconveniences my pocket1
