Metro Police
Unlawful arrest

My husband was driving back home on Saturday night, he was travelling on Chris Hani Road. he was then stopped by the Metro police not far from the gate of the University of Johannesburg (soweto campus). he stopped and was told by the traffic officer by the name of Pinky that he was driving at 82km in a 60km zone. The officer then told him that he was under arrest and that he would be taken to Kliptown police station.
he was then arrested since 11pm and only released on Sunday at 2pm. A bail of R1500 was paid. According to the traffic laws a speed trap can't be placed at that time of the night and also the officers need to be visible.
So my husband was unlawfully arrested where as a fine should have been handed over to him.

As a result of this, he missed work on Sunday because he spent the night in prison cell, which means he lost money for that day. Someone needs to be held accountable and he needs to be compensated for loss of income.
