When i tried to renew my postbox on 30 Dec i was informed that i must pay R336 for the rental of the box even though we stay on a small holding where there is no postal service. I've had the box for more than 20 years and have never paid. I live in Dalmada Polokwane where there is one tar road and the rest are dirt roads. Not one resident has a post box outside his yard. We have never seen a post office delivery vehicle or scooter out here. We were told to phone Gladys at 015 - 293 1432. She said 'they' had decided to charge this area because there is a postal system in place. When were they going to inform their customers? We cannot cancel our post box in town only to find out that there is no service here. Gladys agreed that 'they' had not done it correctly and informed us that someone would contact us that same day. We are still waiting for that phone call. If we have not paid by 31 Jan our post box will be locked and we will be charged an extra R90 to open it again. We asked for this decision to be put in writing but so far no communication from the post office. Worst service ever.
