I used to stay in a new development with prepaid electricity from April to June. There was a problem with the electricity and it was connected directly to main supply by Wesley. In that period monthly bill average was R 1100. I thought it included electricity. To my shock after moving out, I owed about R3000 for electricity. I don't understand how water and sanitation could be so expensive.
I asked for detailed statements for my electricity consumption none was forthcoming. Instead I have been handed over for debt collection pushing the amount about R3500.
I will take this up with the Tshwane Metro and the electricity regulator. I know they violate the CPA in failing to provide the info I requested. They also violate the Electricity Regulation Act by overcharging. I will not let them bully me. They don't reply to correspondence and they don't care.
I won't take this lying down.
