Unsatisfactory poor service, Not Meticulous

I am the executor of my deceased husband's estate & he had an outstanding debt for STD bank credit card to which i posted a compliant about a year ago. The firm of attorneys representing STD bank has called to do follow ups after the first saga with the bank regarding the docs etc. Due to the lengthy process of winding up, its now that we got to the stage of paying creditors. Now, i asked the lady what is the outstanding balance for me to make a payment and she send an email on the 14/10/2013 indicating the balance to be R 36 492.66 which i intended to pay by friday last week but couldnt due to transfer time frames. When i got home yesterday, i get a letter from the same firm dated 11/10/2013 stating the outstanding balance to be R 32 735.39. A discrepancy of R 3 757.27!! within 3 days? I needed an explanation for this and Renald told me in clear terms that it is a typing error!!! She added further that its a cut & paste work!! How do i know if the figures r truly corrrect? Clearally, no one bothers to ensure that what they send to the clients is true and correct infor of what is collectable let alone WHAT does that cost the organisation they suppose to b collecting for?
