I purchased a brand new Ford Figo in March 2011. I was told by Margie Fourie to take out a shortfall cover, as I am purchasing a new car, this is to my own benefit. Should something happen to the vehicle while still under Finance, the shortfall cover would cover the outstanding amount not covered by the insurance.
In February 2013, my Ford Figo burnt out. Ford refused to take any responsibility/ accountability for the vehicle. It was clearly an electrical fault as it just combusted into flames. They had no interested into what the cause was of my vehicle bursting into flames. My car was written off.
After two months of my vehicle being written off, i was still paying for the Ford. Upon enquiring with the bank, it became clear that there is money outstanding, The shortfall cover did not cover the entire shortfall/ WHY THEN TAKE A SHORTFALL POLICY??? Not ONCE was there any mention of an excess payable, not ONCE was I informed that there is a chance that the full shortfall may not be paid. I was told that the shortfall will cover everything.
How many other people was duped into signing a policy without being informed about VITAL information.
