SA Post Office
Stamping original certificates instead of the copy

I went to the Hatfield Post Office to get certified copies of my degree certificates. Upon giving the officer behind the counter the copies and original qualifications, he did not even look at the paperwork in front of him and just randomly started stamping the papers. I quickly asked him to stop as he was placing stamps on the original degree certificates, and not the copies, upon which he told me that he thought I had the originals in my hand. I asked him if he understood the concept of certified copies and the fact that one has to look at the originals before issuing stamps on the copies. He shrugged his shoulders and mumbled "Eish, sorry sorry". I was too angry at that point to speak to anyone, as I needed a time out to process this. I work for a company that requires certified copies from the individual's applying for our service, and this happens to them on a regular basis too. I would like to know if someone will be held accountable for this and if I will be reimbursed the R195 it's going to cost me to have my certificate reprinted seeing as the original is useless now and will be considered a copy with the stamp on?
