We subscribed to the MTN special offer for data and after it was activated a message appeared to say "you have successfully subscribed" to a certain service of which we had no knowledge about. We checked our statement online and discovered we were being billed R20 a day! We contacted MTN and were told it was Smart Call Tech Solutions. They were not very helpful but said they will send a cancellation request on our behalf (which they did not do). Being a holiday yesterday we could not contact Smart Call Tech but in the mean time we are being billed R20 a day from the 27/04/2013. I have contacted the call centre this morning to cancel and was told it will take 24hrs to do so. How is it possible for them to deduct monies immediately for a service you have not subscribed to and the when you want to cancel it takes so many days and they continue to debit your account? I have noticed that this kind of unauthorised deductions takes place with many MTN subscribers and not so much with the other service providers, why is this the case? I would like to have these charges reversed please!
