Failed to inform us that our voucher weren't valid

We bought a voucher for accommodation at "Makouvlei" near Barrydale. We then made the booking on 23 Oct 2013 to go and stay over on 6 and 7 Dec. However when we arrived there on Friday evening 6 Dec we realized that the place didn't seem to exist anymore. We then saw on their website that they had a "freak of nature" incident after which they closed down - and that all the people who bought vouchers have to contact "Danielle from Cityslicker" - which we did right away via e-mail as it was after hours. I then phoned first thing the next morning and left a voicemail as I couldn't get through to an operator. I also forwarded the e-mail again to both Danielle as well as the general admin/info e-mail address at Cityslicker. For obvious reasons I was and still am very upset as we drove all the way from Cape Town out to Barrydale expecting a nice relaxing weekend away only to end up at a place that didn't exist anymore! After a few more e-mails I eventually got a response that stated that "they're very sorry but I (should've) received a mail from them to inform me of the closure - well I didn't and I'm still waiting for one of their managers to get in contact with me in this regard?!
