Discovery Health
2 months, 1 claim, still awaiting feedback

Discovery won't allow me to claim for a breast pump without an ICD-10 code, and Dischem's policy is that over the counter items don't have an ICD-10 code. My wife and I were advised by our midwife that a breast pump is essential for breastfeeding once my wife returns to work, and that we could claim it from Discovery. We didn't know we had to also go to a doctor to be able to claim.

I've been trying to claim for over 2 months now, initially they rejected the claim because I didn't include the Nappi code, I had to call them to find this out because they didn't notify me. I've been calling and emailing them all this time, I've spoken to Tomeka on 20 March (who seemed helpful) she gave me the reference number 27745106277 and when I called back a week later to follow up Andiswa told me that nothing had been done on that reference number, but here is a new ref number: 2782449549.

I've since been trying to confirm with Discovery if I can claim for a breast pump without a doctor's note, but they still haven't given me an answer. They keep saying "Dischem will give you one." Despite me having sent them written confirmation from Dischem that they can't.
