Failure to pay for emergency hospital claim

I am a member of Bestmed-Pulse 1 package. I was involved in a car accident on the 20th February. I had to go to hospital to get checked out as my neck and shoulders were very painful. I phoned the call centre to get authorisation but the lady that answered told me not to worry about getting the authorisation straight away. I went for neck and shoulder xrays at the hospital. I was released in the early evening, and diagnosed with soft tissue damage. I have tried to get an emergency visit authorisation number but the lady at the call centre said that it has to be done within 72 hours of the admittance to casualty. I was unaware of this. She then proceded to hang up in my ear when I asked to speak to the customer care/manager of the call centre. Bestmed takes the money every month without problems... but the time I need to claim they come with stories, and try and make it as difficult as possible for their clients to claim. I feel like I am being ripped off! I am extremely unhappy with the service... and considering leaving as a result.
