I am extremely disappointed at the service I got at the Montrose Protea Hotel. I would never ever again book any Hotels under Protea Hotels.
I made a booking on the 14th February and was not informed that the non smoking rooms were fully booked. My husband who has Sinus and I normally suffer from Tonsils couldn't sleep in a room which was smelling of cigarettes even the bed linen had cigarettes holes in it and also had a terrible smell. even the curtains smelled of cigarettes, when we went to enquire, Melanie who didn't even try to help just told me the non smoking rooms were fully booked and did not even ask us when we arrived if we will be fine with a smoking room. me and my husband are non smokers and when we had to sleep in a room that we paid for and no one wanted to help. we tried opening the windows and also the air but nothing helped. i woke up with a terrible headache and i now have tonsils. if we had known, we would have booked at Lalanathi which is a few KM away from Montrose and i am sure we would have not experiences the same problem. i am utterly disgusted by the way Melanie handled the complaint i had and the room that we had to sleep.
