Liberty Medical Scheme
A SCHEME YES, BUT NOT MEDICAL

Today brought about the end of my worst medical aid experience.

I signed up to Liberty Medical Aid with a salesman who promised a lot for my R1845 per month.

*Although Mr Naick assured me repeatedly that the herbal cholesterol medication I was taking would be covered - it was not. I had to pay R150 pm for it. This despite a doctor's prescription. Mr Naick said his research had shown that all medical aids refuse to pay for Lipostat - not true!

*I wanted to quit smoking. Having had a bad experience with Zyban previously my doctor prescribed me Champix - a newer medication - Liberty refused to pay stating they only covered Zyban - against my doctor's prescription again - I had to pay R300 pm for Champix.

*My doc eventually prescribed Aspavor for my cholesterol that was 7.3 at the age of 29. Liberty refused to pay - they sent me a letter to say "Payment refused as client does not fit risk profile" - R120 pm extra for Aspavor.

*1 GP visit paid

I was disappointed every step of the way. Then when I changed my bank details they never updated or debited me and now hound me for money via email.

It took you over 6 months to phone - glad my time with you is done - no need to respond
