My medical aid reversed R8000 on a medical bill that had been fully settled. I received an account for this amount and immediately followed up with Life Health Care as I was unaware of this reversal. The consultant at LHC and myself communicated fully and she undertook to let me know when it had been paid, her comment after contacting the medical aid, was that the payment would happen soon.
Admittedly I did not follow up after this conversation but I did assume that the consultant would have notified me if the payment had not happened.
Imagine my annoyance when I received a FINAL DEMAND, three months later, from a firm of attorneys. HOW DARE they hand over this account without the courtesy of another account being sent or even a conversation with me. When I contacted them I am told that the consultant that I communicated with left 6 weeks after I had dealings with her. It seems that the blame is being put on her.
How can procedures be that after 2 Accounts in the mail they hand over the bill to attorneys? surely with the snail mail as it is today it is only fair on customers to give them the benefit of the doubt and try to contact them in another way before doing this.
