Woman turned away due to emergency unit closing

My mom had a severe nose bleed for more than 30 minutes and was rushed to Tokai Medicross. She was assisted with emergency care and we were billed for R500. It was due to a vein that needed to be cortarised. They did put a plug up her nose, but then placed her on antibiotics and she was discharged. When her nose started bleeding at 19:40 on the same day, we called ahead to Tokai Medicross, hoping they would see her again. The nurse informed us that their doors were closed and we would only be referred to another hospital. This was due to the fact that they operate until 8pm. With limited funds we were forced to go elsewhere, after having spent R500. It is most unfortunate that the Medicross were prepared to refer us to another emergency unit, even after having not done all they could for my mom.
