My husband use a wheelchair permanently. We get written authorization to buy a wheelchair at Dis-chem. The mail stated that we had to pay first and then claim it back from medical fund. My husband receive only disability grant of R1270 of which the medical fund contribution is R1089 per month, Various people at the call centre of Bonitas name it is possible for Dis-chem to claim the money, and we can collect the wheelchair after the payment is made by the medical fund. I even have a ref nr 231013QBXNS8 that was issued with the order to pay the pharmacy. Yet some one at Bonitas refuse to pay this. They just say we have to pay and claim it back. WE DO NOT HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY and WHAT IS THE USE OF HAVING BENEFITS AT THE MEDICAL FUND IF YOU CAN USE THEM. No where in the brochure it is explain that you have to pay and then claim this benefit. My husband is totally dependent on the wheelchair and if his current one broke he will not be able to be mobile at all. In the past their was no problem to buy the wheelchair this way through Dis-chem Kollonade. All I ask is that the benefit which is part of our medical benefits is allowed for us to use.
