SelfMed Covers Nothing

I am absolutely appalled at what SelfMed covered when I went in for knee surgery.
When I signed up with SelfMed I spoke at length to the Sales Rep about covering my in hospital costs, given that I am a sportsman and susceptible to injuries. He assured me that my in hospital costs would be covered and there were only a few minor procedures that I would need to have a co-payment for.

However, when it came down to the crunch and I needed a Ligament Reconstruction (not a minor procedure), I found that I would have to cover almost as much as they would.
My co-payment on the Hospital was in excess of R10k and my payment to the Anaesthetist was more than what SelfMed covered.

This is ridiculous! I did not take a cheap option either, I pay a fair amount for Medical and yet they cover nothing.

I will never recommend SelfMed to anybody and I would recommend anybody who is thinking of using SelfMed think very carefully!
