Life Healthcare
Correct use of medicine

The normal duration of Augmentin ES suspension is 5 days, and in severe cases it may be up to 10 days. Dr Belcher prescribed this for my son while he was hospitalized at 0mercantile hospital from the 30th November to 1st December 2013. Two bottles were issued, a 100ml bottle and a 50ml bottle of the Augmentin. The dosage given was "take one and a half medicine measure twice daily" as a healthcare professional i can tell you now that a five day course of the antibiotic using the given dose is equal to 75ml, in this case 150mls was issued this tells me that the treatment is for a duration of 10days. But ovayo's mother doesn't know that because she's no healthcare professional, when the nurse gave the medicines to her on discharge of the child why didn't she explain to her that the two bottles 50 and 100ml is one medicine, and both follow the same dosage? Because the label was on the 100ml bottle she gave 7.5ml of the 100ml twice per day and another 5ml of the 50ml twice per day, because there was no councelling she overdosed the child thinking that she's doing is right. A patient must be counselled on correct use of medicine, this overdose has now messed up the Dr's treatment plan.
