I took my 74 yr old mom with Alzheimer's to the Benoni Medicross after she fell. I proceeded to fill out forms. We were then referred to a Dr Le Roux, he seemed OK.He checked her back & sent her for X Rays, saying he would see her as soon as the X Rays were done-well believe it or not, the X Rays were done in record time. That department then phoned the Dr to come & view them. We waited & waited & waited some more, then started making noises-where was he-'Oh, he's coming', but finally we were told 'he's gone out-he'll be back at 17h30pm." "What are you kidding me". Now bearing in mind my mom is 74, has Alzheimer's & is in pain!!Finally someone in X Rays, said maybe we should go to casualty. This sounded strange but off we went, & were seen by a Dr H. Botha, a real gentleman. Well he wasn't happy with the X Rays (this was at 16h50pm) & wanted them taken further up the back, toward the neck. Again this was done in record time and Dr Botha waited for us. Apparently the damage is 2 or 3 cracked vertebrae. My problem here is, what bills are going to be sent to medical aid. My feeling is Dr Le Roux should NOT be paid & frankly i wouldnt recommend him to anyone. Dr Botha was a pleasure & kind!
