I booked my mother and partner a weekend break, at Peebles country retreat. All was paid in full, for two old folk to have a break together. They phoned to make their reservation and were told that Peebles could not honor the voucher, as Urban Hip had taken ownership of Peebles and it was now called the Highlander. They sent us the previous owners name-no number and implied, that we sort it out with him. I was told that Urban Hip will not take responsibility for the vouchers, as various other couples have also tried to book, for a getaway, on vouchers paid for. Their excuse was that these vouchers were amounting to R100 000.00. This is not anyone's fault, except theirs. They-as business owners, should have conducted their takeover in support of their future clients. Anyhow after sending proof of payment, emails and phone calls, Monika said there is nothing they can do, other than give us a discount on our next booking. What a 96)&7! $&@&)@$ insult!!!
