Bad service and hospitality

As a guest at a large corporate function at Zulu Nyala recently, I was disappointed with the lacklustre offering. The day was bliserting. A few tables and chairs were set up under two hot tents, and a large number of poofs were scattered over the lawn, only a few of them being under the shade of the small trees dotted here and there. Two canopies were set up, which then kept blowing away. The overpriced cash bar set up outside was not stocked well and the cashier slow and inexperienced (which led some guests to have to hang out at the inside, slightly cooler, bar away from the party itself). The queue in the hot sun did nothing to help the dehydration and discomfort.By 12h30, guests began to get hungry. Lunch was a braai buffet consisting of 3 meats (the first batch of which ran out in minutes), fried onions baking in the sun, a single green salad, a couscous salad, potato salad and portuguese rolls, all within access of flies. Halaal and kosher were given plated meals, but vegetarians and vegans went hungry on couscous salad. Hot, hungry and tired, I could not escape fast enough from what should have been a fun day of relaxed networking. WIll not be back there soon for any reason
