Yesterday I had to have my mom of 75 admitted for a small procedure. She only has one leg so upon arrival someone assisted us with a wheel chair but then we were left at the admissions desk for about 15 mins. No one to help us. After the admission with a person who obviously didn't enjoy his job, I was told to wheel my mom with her crutch, her suitcase and her file to Section B. It is impossible to push a wheel chair with one hand and I wasn't managing but no staff offered to help. I wasn't impressed with the service from 12:30pm BUT THEN... the night staff came on duty and suddenly there seemed to be structure and order. My mom was discharged at around 8:15 pm. Florence stayed in the ward to help me with my mom and then wheeled her all the way to the car and even waited whilst I got her things from the dispensary. Grateful thanks to Florence, she spoke kindly to my mom and reassured her all the time. The nurses at the nurses station also helped immediately when I asked for drip to be removed or sides of bed to be put down. Not one said I am busy. They need to be commended but more especially Florence because I didn't even ask her to help us in any way. She used her own initiative.
