I just did a credit report on my name and saw that a default has been listed on my name. The odd thing is this is for a medical aid I had 3 years ago. My last payment on this medical aid was in August 2010. As per the Prescription act of 1969, any debts that are older than 3 years are considered prescribed. If no action was taken within the 3 years of the last payment, then the loan/debt, is classified as written off.
The last time I ever dealt with Discovery was when I signed my release papers at my previous employer. In fact, I do believe that Discovery Health owes me money as my employer had paid my monthly fee and I paid in for the rest. Now I want to get a new car and a house and I can't do it because I have "defaulted". This is unlawful and unfair. I was never contacted by discovery ever since 2010. I want this default removed of I will take legal action against Discovery Health.
