I phoned Road lodge umhlanga today, 13 October at 6:05 pm. I spoke to a gentleman and asked if there was place available for 24 and 25 December. He bluntly stated (without checking on his side) that there was nothing available. I then asked him if my details could be taken on a waiting list and was told that they don't do things like that. I informed him that I had done this 2 years ago with the very same hotel and was successful. He still refused. I asked to speak to the duty manager. He put my call on hold for 5 minutes, then saw that I was still holding and cut me off.
What has happened to this hotel? Have the good staff left? Has the service gone down the drain? I do no expect this arrogant type of service from a hotel in the city lodge group. I had previously written a compliment on tripadvisor about how wonderful my stay was 2 years ago when the hotel phoned me to tell me rooms become available. I feel so put off from this hotel now.
