My mother (E Schreve 68300486359) was admitted to Kuils River Hospital on 8/8/2013 and was treated for a PMB condition. Whilst in hospital certain blood test had to be done. Medshield refused to pay for the test "since the claims (sic) were done in hospital and therefore the pathologist cannot claim for the tests". I was informed by the Dr Du Buisson that the "tests were done in the ward but the machine in the lab had to be used for the analysis". It is my understanding that the medical aid is obliged to pay all PMB claims - whether the "machine was used in the hospital word or in the lab". It is unacceptable that the member get caught up in a dispute between the service provider and the medical aid on exactly where the tests were done.
