I took out cover with Momentum Health in January 2013 and cover was granted subject to the subscriptions being paid in advance and a three month waiting period before full benefits were available. I recently had a casualty that made me realise that my plan does not meet my needs. I asked to switch plans, but was told it cannot be done during the year. I shopped around and found a competitor who had what I needed, but cancelling my plan has become a nightmare. Despite paying my premium in advance and and having my cover suspended during Sept, I can only cancel with a month's notice, which means another month's subscription has to be paid. When this was queried I was advised that it was company "protocol". Why should I give a month's notice, when I made no claim, paid in advance and had no full benefits for 3 months! I fact, MH will owe me if I stay till 31.10.13 and have no claims during this time. When I questioned this I was told that they could meet me half way if I pay the Sept. subscription (which was suspended, so no cover), meaning that I pay for 9 months and only get cover for 7.Clearly the objective here is to milk the consumer and mask this behind protocol. EXTORTION!!!
