Oneplan Health Insurance
Cancellation of my policy

I phoned One Plan Medical Scheme on 26/02/13 to ask how I must go about cancelling my medical insurance. The agent advised me that I must give one month notice to cancel, and that it should be in writing. So I sent an email directly after the phone call to cancel the policy. On 01/03/13 the debit order for the month of March was deducted, covering me for March. When I phoned on 13/03/13 to log a claim, the agent who helped me advised that I could not claim funds as my insurance had been cancelled. I told him that on 26/02/13 I did give notice to cancel the policy, but a 1 month notice period is applicable, which means that I still have cover for the current month of March. After a lot of verbal wrestling and going back and forth a couple of times to get information, he tells me there's nothing he can do as the policy has been cancelled. After telling him that, if anything were to happen to me or any one in my family during March, and I did not have cover that I was entitled to, then I will sue the company! Later that afternoon he called & confirmed that the policy had been reinstated for the remainder of the month and that the funds for my claim had been made available.
