Was diagnosed with Myasthenia gravis in January 2013.By beginning Feb my savings were depleated. MG is a pmb condition and if you look at why PMB's were implimented and the situation I'm in now scares me. Discovery is only prepared to cover the bare minimum (if) and not prepared to at Individual requirements but prefer to decline the medication of a life threatening condition even if it is a rare condition and see that the minimum requirements is a Benchmark!!! I have a medical aid but now need to decide if I will stop taking the medication or go and sit at a state facility to get the medication as people with no medical aid have access to this medication at no cost and the cost for my Myasthenia medication amounts to R2700pm. I have provided them with various reports and motivations from my Neurologist. But with no success. I am concerned as I know of other people with this condition and their medication is covered on PMB. Someone even said that their
Medical aid has been so supportive and is really going out of their way to assist. Maybe i'm with the wrong m/aid?? But having to struggle with this issue does not help!! How did other MG sufferers managed to get approved?
