We have a very bad situation with Transmed medical aid. He also has gangrene in his big toe. My husband has kidney failure and is on dialysis. He now has a bad iron deficiency. The doctor now needs to book him into the hospital for an iron infusion as this is of utmost importance that he gets this.
The medical aid advised that this is not life threatening and they are declining the request. I have never heard of something like this. They also claimed that if it was life threatening, he would have been submitted to hospital. We could not submit him straight away, as we need authorization from the medical aid!!!
This is to say the least, pathetic. What do we do now?
