An agent of protea hotels' prokard division contacted me to offer me membership to prokard. After indicating that it would cost me R1350, i declined the offer and indicated to the agent that i was no longer interested in the offer. Today, i was shocked to see that protea had debited my account with R1350. My bank confirmed that the amount was debited by protea. This conduct is a blatant and deliberate disregard for the consumer protection act, my rights as a consumer and amounts to. I am shocked that such a big company can stoop so low as to unlawfuly take people's money just to achieve sales. I have used a number of their hotels in the past, but this experience has left me with a sense of disgust towards protea hotels group. If this matter is not resolved as quickly as my money was, i will be approaching the consumer protection council for remedy.
