I saw a dentist in March and was advised to have a bite plate made. When I asked the cost, the response was don't worry, it won't break the bank balance. When I went back to collect it, I was horrified that the bill was over R1 000 and I had to request to see it. When I complained later that day to say this is in fact breaking my bank balance, I was told they'd knock off R200 - all done telephonically. I was assured the account would be submitted to my medical aid. Today I get an sms to say I must settle my account - the account was never sent to me. When I phone to query it, I'm told the medical aid didn't pay (even though I never got a notification that a claim was made). I'm shocked at this service and pretty certain you could pick up the phone and phone me a month after my appointment to say no payment has been made. I'm also told the bill was posted to me - I've never received anything. I'm appalled - the practice also has no signage to say the onus is on you to request a quote, I'd assume the dentist would do that. Clearly, this dentist has an enormous bank balance so what he should have said was his bank balance. Please email me regarding this complaint, do not phone me.
