Was treated for Pulmonary Embolism in December 2012 and again this friday the 24th of May. I was registered for treatment on the code I26.9. With a whole list of approved tests etc. I also have a hospital benefit. On Friday I phone to get my authorisation number before hand everything. Only to see to day that the one account of R4600 they will only pay R900 of it!??? I should have stayed in hospital but to save funds I opted to be released and sent home and apply medication myself and these people do not want to pay!!! they wish for there members to die. and that while I am paying a monthly subscription of R4000 almost.
If you are thinking of getting a medical aid dont use these they just want your money and do not want to look after the medical needs of their members. I will be reporting them tomorrow at the medical aid ombudsman - so watch this space and be warned!! As you know last week Vuyo Mbuli died due to pulmonary embolism so its quite a serious condition but understand that these people do not care!!
