La Ballito Holiday Flats
Dangerous Lifts

On our 3rd day at La Ballito the lift got stuck between the 2nd and 3rd floor and after spending an hour and a half stuck in the lift we eventually called emergency services as the security guard could not reach the caretaker. Fortunately the fire brigade assisted us in getting us out. Apparently this is not the first time this has happened and one of the Trustees of the Body Corporate informed me that they have asked the Body Corporate on numerous occasions to replace the lifts, but to no avail.

The following day, the owner of the flat that we were living in, who didn't even bother to check to see whether we were OK after what we had gone through, just clucked and smirked a "shame". Well it is a shame that these people have a total disregard for other people's safety. Even after they were aware of what happened to us they still did not bother to put up an "Out of Order" sign on the lift that had got stuck to warn potential users. We unfortunately had to continue to use the other lift since we stayed on the 10th floor and I wasn't going to do 10 flights of stairs on a daily basis.
