Apple South Africa's abysmal after sales service

I had the awful experience of requiring technical support from Apple after my laptop crashed. The staff at both stores were incredibly unhelpful, they only know to wipe hard drives clean and reinstall with a snotty attitude! I can do that at home, I required someone with specialist knowledge, the same as would be available if I had a windows-based laptop. The Granger Bay service centre is helpful, but to run the gauntlet through the unhelpful, unfriendly, poorly trained, unknowledgeable store staff is an ordeal. I waited for 30 minutes to drop equipment off (required for repairs) while staff were playing on their iPhones, even after requesting assistance I was ignored. They never sent the equipment to the service centre, I had to contact the centre to fetch it 4 hours later when the service centre emailed me to ask where it is! And they never advised me once it was finished, I had to phone them! Apple is a great product, but not recommended in a country where there is virtually no technical support available and rude staff. I will never recommend Apple products to anyone in South Africa for this reason and I hope to never have to set foot in an Apple store in South Africa again!
