I upgraded to the iPhone 5 at iStore's Eastgate branch last Wednesday. It was 4.45pm and there were 4 people in line behind me to see the MTN consultant so she (Charmaine) had no time to open the phone to check it. When opening the phone at home, I immediately discovered 1 scratch on the front and 2 on the back. 3 days later, on my next off day from work I took it back but they would not replace it, even though it was within the 7 day warranty period. They said that it was just my bad luck and that they would only replace it for software problems.
Next Wednesday, I went to the same store because my phone was not connecting to MTN's Internet network. The sales consultant who helped me took my phone to the back office. He came back to the front, he placed it on the aluminium Macbook Pro they use. I immediately put it on a piece of paper and told him to be careful because it scratches. He went to the back again for a few minutes and gave me my phone back. There was ANOTHER scratch on the front. The manager (Michael Momberg) said that it was my word against theirs and that there was no way to prove that I didn't scratch it.
4 scratches in a week and none were me.
