I bought new house and when I wanted to install DSTV I was told that I am not allowed to install a dish because the area has got ELSAT-Communal system. I was given the form that I need to complete to rent the cables for 60 months from Elsat if I wanted to watch DSTV. I mean renting cables on top on the Monthly subscription that I pay to DSTV.
This goes against the chapter-2 of the competition Act of South Africa, I don't need to rent cables I need to install my own system. We have several installers in South Africa and I can't be forced to use ELSAT system and rent cables monthly it all does not make sense to me and it is a slavery mentality to enslave the residents of the building to pay ELSAT Monthly whether they like it or not. I hope the competition commission will come to our rescue if they (ELSAT) do not fix this poor business practice.
