I had lightning strike to my house on the 2nd of June 2013. I reported damage to Standard Bank, and waited till the 29th of June for a reply, where after I got my own contractors to do the repairs. At this stage I was without an alarm system and my sliding gate motors was damaged, as well as a wall plug and a light fixture.
After enquiring from Stanbic a further 2 times, the send out Mr Williams to inspect if the work was done. He neglected to report back to Standard Bank-I think because he did not do the job-for a furher month.
Eventually Standard bank informed me that they will only pay out R 2568.50-of a claim of R 12 000, where at least expected R 9000, as some upgrade was necessary.
Clearly Mr Williams does not know the value of electrical equipment to be replaced, and/or he does not know how lightning strike looks like, coming from Cape Town.! I hope he will be removed from the Stanbic insurance preferred supplier list so that nobody else can be done in by him.
