Samsung Galaxy pocket is NOT 3G compatible

After struggling with my phone for months, including changing the phone and the sim card, a service technician in Zambesi Drive rectified the fault on my phone. The phone would from time to time show a message: "Not registered on the network". This means, of course that no calls can be received or made. I was told by Samsung technicians that it is because my sim card is too old. I changed the sim card and still got the problem.
The fault is in fact that there is a problem with the 3G capability of the Samsung Galaxy Pocket. The 3G was disabled and now the phone works. Samsung refuses to believe this and suggests that I take my phone to them at my cost to have software downloaded. This is definitely the last Samsung phone that I will buy.
