I was always under the impression that the price you pay more for a Bosh appliance is reflected in the quality of the product as result of German engineering. I took this into consideration when I replaced my twenty year old Defy Oven with a Bosh Gas stove. This is not what I experienced as one of the hinges on my 5 year old Bosh gas stove, HSB745055E-01, collapsed due to, in my opinion, an inferior design. Except for the low reliability of the hinge, I also have a problem paying R566.16 (inc VAT) for a hinge (Stock Code 612554) as a similar hinge for other well known appliance would have cost between R50 and R100, as confirmed by appliance spare part supplier. When I complaint about the price at the BOSH Midrand depot, the response was very negative and they had a no care attitude. This was my last BOSH product and I will encourage my friends not to buy BOSH products as the increased price you pay for the products is not actually reflected in the quality of the product. A cheaper product will give you the same service at a much lower Life Cycle Cost.
