Unable to recharge battery

I have a Nuvi 200 series Garmin which no longer functions off its battery unless plugged into the car battery. I can not longer recharge the Garmin battery. I was told by a Garmin call centre agent that I would have to bring the unit to Garmin office and I would be given a quote on a new unit. This is very far from my residence and incovenient and I don't like to be forced into buying a new unit.

I called Garmin office and asked to speak to the director. Found out his name is Walter Meck. I was put through to his PA - Aldia Barnard - who told me that he was away. I asked for his email address and was told it could not be given to anyone off the street but the PA would pass it on if I emailed her with my problem. I objected to be being called "anyone off the street" but the lady insisted she could not give the address to everyone. I sent the emaile but have had no response. I would aprreciate the courtesy of a reponse from Mr Meck
