I am a student at Monash South Africa and heard about how great this university is supposed to be as it is based on an international platform, however there has been a major lack of services! Teachers are often absent form tutorials and no one is sent to replace them. I did not have class for a week as a my lecturer had a funeral (which i understand) however no one was sent to replace or take the class?! We had no clue what was going on in the subject. In another course subject my lecturer just does not pitch up and when he does its for 10 minutes when we have a 2 hour tutorial. I went to the head of my program only to be told i have to speak to the teacher and find out why they were absent. As if i have to discipline their staff for them!? I am totally disgusted with this lack of service as this is a private university, and after speaking to the head of my program (who did not seem concerned) nothing has been done about it, as a week later the lecturer walked out after 10 minutes of our 2 hour tutorial.
I am truly disgusted and are most probably going to transfer to another university. If only the head of Monash in Australia knew how shocking and disgusting the service is here!
