Builders Warehouse delivery personnel damaged my garage when they arrived for delivery. I spoke to the Yard Manager Tony and Mr Phele, they called in the driver and he agreed that they cause my door to derailed (please see attached pictures). And I told them that I will get it fixed and send them the invoice.
Friday the 29th March, I managed to find a contractor to fix the door and they asked for R900 but I managed to push them down to R650.
I got a call from Yard Manager (Tony), saying that they will not honor this invoice for the following reasons:
o I didn't not give them a chance to send assessors to assess the damage and
o The contractor's invoice doesn't have a VAT number.
I find his reasons ludicrous considering the following:
o Was I expected to wait for Builders Warehouse assessor? Whilst I risk my family to the potential danger of sleeping in the house without a door;
o It was a long weekend, possibly Builders Warehouse assessors would have come in today, the 2nd April;
o I didn't have luxury of looking for the contractor with VAT number; I just wanted my door to be fixed immediately.
I just need my refund
