Since we could not get any satisfactory response from JC Peens Construction we got a quote from another builder to repair all the cracks in the walls and to put more waterproofing on the roof. At the bottom of this builders quote it was stated that they could not guarantee the work due to the very poor workmanship and inferior building material used by Peens Construction. Work commenced and was done very neatly and professionally and the walls finally looked as they should as opposed to the previous poor shopfitting job we had. When the rains started again on 9th August the roof still leaked and we finally asked the builder to rebuild the roof completely as the ceilings were sagging badly. On removing the roof it was found that Jan Peens had just used 5 Ply Shutter board for the roof and put waterproofing on that. As the waterproof was not properly laid water had seeped into the board which had cracked and then rotted. There were colonies of ants in the roof as well living in the rotting board. Unfortunately every other owner in our complex who used JC Peens Construction is experiencing the exact same problems we did.
